I had cervical discectomy and fusion July 31, 2023. I have had over 20 surgeries at this point, including lumbar spine, but was absolutely terrified for this one. I think because of how they go through the front of the neck to get to the spine. That freaked me out. My original date was for June 19 and I was at the surgery center ready to be rolled into the OR when Dr. Hasan told me the surgery would have to be postponed because I had taken an 81 mg aspirin in the precious five days and it was too risky for bleeding. After the shock wore off, I was thankful that he cared enough to not risk doing the surgery that day. After the surgery in July, I was up and about the next day. I did have to wear a neck brace for four weeks 24/7. That was a long four weeks. It was just uncomfortable. My neck was sore but not painful. I never even took one pain pill. I did take the muscle relaxer the first day and, after that, nothing but Motrin. I am very happy with the care I received and the success of the surgery. Thank you to Dr. Hasan and all his staff! I have attached a picture of my scar. It is healing very nicely as well.
